Welcome to the USO

Creative Brief

This project documents the USO as a structured space for rest and connection within the unpredictability of deployment. Designed as a short-form vertical video for social distribution, the piece uses a first-person walkthrough to place the viewer in the position of a first-time visitor. Guided by a volunteer, the experience unfolds through quiet moments, social interaction, and shared environments, emphasizing how the space functions rather than simply what it contains.

Working within real-world constraints including live environments, non-repeatable interactions, and variable audio conditions, the project relies on controlled pacing and intentional sound design to maintain clarity and immersion. Dialogue, ambient sound, and music were layered and balanced to prioritize voice while preserving authenticity. The result is a restrained, observational piece that communicates the USO experience through presence, structure, and atmosphere rather than overt promotion.
